Materials
- DK or worsted yarn, approximately 170 m / 186 yd
- 4 mm crochet hook, or size needed for fit
- Yarn needle, scissors, and stitch markers
Gauge & sizing
- 22 stitches × 28 rows = 10 cm / 4 in
- Each motif: about 12.5 cm / 5 in diagonally
- Designed for a regular adult women’s fit
- For a smaller or larger fit, change the hook by 0.5 mm and check the first motif against your hand.
Measurement note: the source also lists a 9.5 cm / 3.75 in square width. Because yarn and tension vary, use both measurements as guidance and test the motif before joining.
Stitches & special techniques
Abbreviations: ch = chain, sl st = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, BLO = back loop only, st(s) = stitch(es).
Puff stitch: yarn over, insert hook in the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop three times; yarn over and pull through all loops, then ch 1 to close.
dc4tog cluster: work four unfinished double crochets into the same space, then yarn over and pull through all loops.
Step 1 of 8
Prepare and check fit
Gather the materials and make a gauge swatch. Each glove uses two motif squares, so you will make four matching squares in total.
Check the first completed motif against the back of your hand before making the remaining three. Adjust hook size by 0.5 mm if needed.

Count checks
- Round 1: 16 double crochets.
- Round 2: 16 puff stitches, each followed by ch 1.
- Round 3: 16 dc4tog clusters with ch-2 spaces.
- Make exactly 4 equal motif squares: 2 panels per glove.
- Joined edge: 28 single crochets across the two aligned squares.
Finishing and fit checks
- Weave every end securely without tightening the motifs.
- Turn each glove right side out and smooth the cuffs.
- Check that the thumb opening sits comfortably and the finger cuff does not restrict movement.
- Lightly block only if needed, keeping both gloves the same size.
Tip: ribbing stretches across the hand. Keep slip-stitch joins relaxed so the cuff can flex.
